The Enemy Within
We are interested in evaluating how well The Enemy Within informs players about the nature of cancer. To do this, we need your help.
We would like players to take part in a 1-month study that can take place entirely online and in your own time. The minimum time investment over the course of the month is expected to be 1-hour, most of which will involve playing the game.
If you are interested, please read the information below before starting the study using the links in the PARTICIPATE box to the right.
The Enemy Within is an educational strategy game designed to inform teenagers about the genesis, evolution and progression of cancer. The player tries to control the spread of mutant cells and, in doing so, experiences exactly why the mutational burden from various risk factors is so bad.
This project is a collaboration between Dr Adrian Saurin of University of Dundee and Dr Robin Sloan of Abertay University. The project has received support from Scottish Crucible, the Nine Trades of Dundee, and the Wellcome Trust.
After you have read the full participant information to the left, if you wish to participate in testing of the Enemy Within please use the links below to begin.
Before playing the game, please first complete the questionnaire by clicking on the button on the right.
Now, you can play the game. You are free to play through the game as few or as many times as you like over the next four weeks.
After four weeks, you should complete questionnaire 2 by clicking on the button to the right.
You can set a reminder to complete questionnaire 2 four weeks after completing questionnaire 1, but you will also receive a reminder to do so.
